Orlèans

Orleans is perhaps best known as one of the cities that Jeanne d’Arc has visited. Orleans is the capital of the ‘Center’ region and is located at the eastern end of the Loire Valley. The city of Orleans lost many buildings during the destructive World War II, but is now an attractive tourist and university center. Since Orleans is in central France, it’s a great place to start a tour of the Loire Valley. With many castles, beautiful gardens and vineyards, there is much to see. It is within easy reach of Paris and it is also a well visited area in France. This area makes some of France’s best wines.
